    App Management Service

My friend tried to start the App Management Service on her XPSP3 laptop (XP Home Edition) and was told it could not be started because the specified module could not be found. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem please? Also, is the Service really necessary?

    Thanks and regards,
    Roy

The Application Management service is not supported in Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, and the Appmgmt.dll file is not included with Windows XP Home Edition. However, the registry setting that disables this service is not configured correctly in Windows XP Home Edition.
To resolve the problem, have your friend go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328213 and click on the the green "Hotfix Download Available" button at the top of that page.

SpywareDr, thanks but the download didn't work because it's for xpsp2 and my friend's laptop runs xpsp3.

Do you have any other ideas?
