    Post Windows 8 Update Problem

Windows 8 Update will not install pending updates.

When troubleshooting windows8 update I got this message:

    Error codes this applies to:

    WindowsUpdate_8024a000

    0x8024a000

My problem is twofold - 1) pending updates won't install; 2) I sometimes get a message re being on a metered connection resulting in W8 update not continuing with the process. I have set W8 to intall over a metered connection.

I have tried the troubleshooting process as a user and then as administrator, sometimes this results in a "one off" solution; however, the next time I try I have the same problem all over again. Can you help please?

I just got a reply from a guy in Microsoft Community. It goes like this - what do you think, should I try it?
    Click Start

    Type: cmd

Right click on cmd in start menu and select 'Run as Administrator'

    Type: net stop wuauserv

    Hit Enter

    Type: ren c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

    Hit Enter

    Type: net start wuauserv

    Hit Enter

    Type: exit

    Hit Enter

    `~`
Casso says: I don't like doing things I don't understand; can anybody tell me if it is okay to try the above? TX

Thanks Medico. Seems we have a "crossover". That is the same reply. I got it from Microsoft Community. Problem is in the MSC thread subsequent posts seem to be negative about this "solution". I think I might leave it alone.
