POPUP Menu in Top Left Corner??

I have Win 7 on two machines, 64 bit and 32 bit Windows 7.

Recently, I've noticed that when I position the cursor (mouse pointer) in the TOP LEFT CORNER of the Desktop, or even in an open window, a popup menu appears that lists 5 items as follows -
    1) Calculator
    2) Explorer
    3) Internet Explorer
    4) Notepad
    5) Wordpad

It stays there until I click somewhere else and obviously clicking on an item runs the item. So this little popup menu is really a list of shortcuts. I did not knowingly make any effort to enable this and I really don't want it as sometimes it just gets in the way.

Does anyone know how I can disable this "feature" of windows?

    Thanks, in advance,

    Fred S

    Fred,

Have you by any chance installed a program called Hot Corners?

Disable everything in Startup and see if it goes away.

I would use a little app called What's In Startup to see what is there and to disable any unwanted or un-needed items.

There is nothing unusual at all in the start up group. The menu is a Windows menu - it is not a malware item at all - the menu looks just like what I posted in the original item of this thread.

No but it sounds like an add-on feature of some unidentified program that could be starting with the computer if you are not starting anything directly. Only way to find out is to disable everything, reboot and see if the popup menu is still in operation.

Autoruns should help you pinpoint the culprit (could it be something added by the OEM of the machine?) but use it carefully or you may break Windows!
