    NTFS

I find Fat32 with WinXP a bit on the slow side. Is NTFS any faster? Any problems with NTFS?. Is the WinXP NTFS fully compatible with Win2000 NTFS?

NTFS is slower than FAT32. Yes XP and 2K NTFS are compatible.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Dave:

    Can 2K read/write a XP formatted NTFS5 partition?

    I don't have an XP/2K multi-boot to test this.

I don't either, but have been told it will work.

    Re: NTFS

Your question contains the answer. Win2k IS Windows NT 5, so NTFS5 is Win2k native file system.

<img src=/S/doh.gif border=0 alt=doh width=15 height=15> Of course. I was confusing a change in the XP format utility (MFT 3GB further into the formatted volume) for a change in the file system.
