    Windows 8 Freezes When Sleeping

From time to time, maybe about every third day, my Windows 8 system freezes while in sleep mode. My system or at least my monitor won't respond to the keyboard or mouse, so my only remedy is to reboot, which I accomplish by holding down my power button. Interestingly, on reboot my system bypasses the dual boot menu and goes directly to Windows 8, which tells me the "reboot" is not a real or complete reboot.

I have Googled the problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics card to no avail. I made sure my USB keyboard and mouse were plugged into USB2 slots, as opposed to USB3 - likewise to no avail.

My system is new and quite powerful.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for solving this annoying problem?

Is your system self built? Too me it sounds like it could be a power issue. Mainboard maybe just barely supplying the needed voltage?

No, it was built by Micro Express about a year and a half ago.

Sounds normal to me. Check Power Options, Change plan settings, Change advanced power settings, Sleep, Hibernate after.

Does it also happen if you put it to sleep manually instead of letting it time out?

This could be a by product of Hybrid Hibernation. Google Hybrid Hibernation for much more info. See if this article might help.

    Smerling,

Hello.. Have a couple of questions ...

    1. If you let the "freeze" alone , does it eventually recover?

    2. What are your graphics ? ( NVIDIA etc)

    3. What is your PC's security program (s) ?

    4. Have you looked into the "Power Settings" and if so how do you have them set? Regards Fred
