    Active x has disappeared! (97/SR2)

In the toolsactivex menu, the list has disappeared. Would anyone know how to get it back?

Additional: I remember there being a menu in access to select some components which cause things not to work when unticked. I'm not sure if its the same menu as above - but as the above list is empty I cannot tell.

Sorry, but do you mean the ActiveX Controls item has disappeared from the Tools menu or that no controls show up in the dialog?

Are you talking about the Tools-->References listing? Try opening that to see if there are ActiveX controls listed there, checked or otherwise. If there are none, try browsing for something like the Calendar Control (probably C:WindowsSystem32Mscal.ocx). If you can set the reference, you may once again see a list of ActiveX controls. The ocx files mostly live in the System32.

I do mean that there are no controls there, yes. Last week there was a list of items there, this week nothing. I looked on another PC and wrote down one of the items in the list, I then found that item on my PC, selected it and clicked the register button - but nothing happened. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Access, the tried reinstalling the MDAC thing (?), but neither of these worked.

The additional point I made (and couldn't remember) was in fact the References listing. However, I can't find it. I've only ever used it twice and it was a while ago, but I looked all around the menus for references and found nothing.

    Thanks for your reply Charlotte.

    Hi Phil,
You need to be in the VBEditor, then select Tools-References.
    Hope that helps.

Excellent, thanks Rory. That explains why I couldn't find it!

I've had a look and the references list is definately there - so it's just the active x controls that are missing. I can see a format coming my way soon!

If you go into the VBEditor and select Insert-Components, do you get a list of ActiveX controls?
