    Small E-mail Windows (IE6.2)

When I try to send an e-mail from the Mail button on the toolbar, the e-mail function appears as a miniature version of an e-mail. I have to either drag the sides or click on the Maximize function in the upper left-hand corner of the e-mail to restore it to full size.
This happens in all versions of IE.
Is there anything I can set so that it will always appear full size?

Is this Office/Outlook 2000 or earlier?
I think the only fix is Outlook 2002 .....

Yes, resize the window, DO NOT select the full size button in the upper right corner, by draging to the desired size, the go to the MENU, File, Close. This should save the new size.

    Dave,
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Do you have another suggestion?

    Leif,
    Thank you for replying.
    I'm using Office/Outlook 2000.
I tried Dave's suggestion in the thread and unfortunately, it didn't work.
I hate to upgrade to Office 2002 just because of this irritation. Do you have any other suggestions?

It works for me, I just ried it again using Outlook Express and Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2002. Are you sure you dragged the windows to the sizthat you want?

    Dave:

I see the problem with Outlook 2000/IE6. The IE6|Mail|New Message function opens a small (but useable) window. Stretching, closing, and re-opening does not work. In fact, the small setting now applies to new mail in O2K. Stretching, etc. in O2K fixed it's problem, but still left IE6 in same state.

    Re: Small E-mail Windows (IE6.2)

Ian, I just had to try that -- and it seems to work on this system.

This is Win2K Pro with IE6 and Outlook2K. If I click Tools | Mail and News > | New Message..., a usable window appears. If I stretch this to a larger size and close the window by using File | Close -- and then reopen a New Message, the LARGER, stretched "New Message" Window appears.

So I am not sure that the Win2K/IE6 connection holds...

    Re: Small E-mail Windows (IE6.2)

My guess is some registry key corruption. I ran a regmon test to try and trap the key, but, I am now wading through 1000 events in less than a minute.

And some of the keys are accessed physically instead of logically. Hopefully I can trace it down by examing the "SetValue..." events.

Oh well, will test it later on other configs as well. Needed a longer break from writing reports anyway.

    Re: Small E-mail Windows (IE6.2)

    Dave,
Thank you for your 2nd reply.
    In IE,
    1. I clicked on the Mail box on the top of the Window and selected send page (I also tried send link).
2.The e-mail box that opened was about the size of the "Find File" box.
    3. I dragged each side to fill out the Window
    4. Sometimes I even hit the "Maximize" button in the upper left-hand corner AFTER I dragged the Window.
    5. Then it's File|Close
    6. When I go back into IE, and try to e-mail a link or page, it's back to the same smaller-than-normal Window.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Small E-mail Windows (IE6.2)

Ian, I am sure you know this, but you can use the Search function in RegMon and find whatever you might need. There is one problem -- I don't know what is needed! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

I looked through my registry until my eyes glazed over trying to find a logical entry -- but I found none. I'll do some more searches...
    ________________

I surrender! I tried using RegMon to figure out if a key was opened and queried or modified, but I was unsuccessful. Ian, I hope you have better luck than I...

Been there done that. I used the search function with "SetValue" to find the change entries. Not a great help. Setting up a tighter test now.

You stated "4. Sometimes I even hit the "Maximize" button in the upper left-hand corner AFTER I dragged the Window"

This what I said DO NOT do, DO NOT USE THE MAXIMIZE button. This the problem with most systems.

    Re: Small E-mail Windows (IE6.2)

We have a document management system that pops up a mail window, and it is the same 350-pixel-square window that IE 5.5 pops up (both from OL 2000). I think this could be a MAPI default of some kind, but that's just a guess. (Searching the registry for 350 or 15E was a complete waste of time, as you would expect.)

    Re: Small E-mail Windows (IE6.2)

    Dave,
Please note that I said "Sometimes I even hit the "Maximize" button in the upper left-hand corner AFTER I dragged the Window". Please note the "sometimes". When I don't do it - hit either the left or right "maximize" button, I still am not able to get a full size Window when I try to send an e-mail from the IE Mail button.
