    MSC 3.0 and homegroup

I am trying to use MSC 3.0 on a W8 machine that is a part of a homegroup. I cannot determine how to enter the data in the "Select Computer" window after I have selected the "Another computer" radio button. When I try to use the "Browse" button the new "Select Computer" window has "WORKGROUP" preselected as the "From this Location" and will not allow it to be changed.

Selecting the examples option takes me to the help screen for Access Control. None of the information there seems to apply.

I'm looking for any suggestions, or a pointer to an appropriate tutorial.

From the prompts, I think it must be MMC (which opens .msc files and has an Action; Connect to another computer ...).
