UAC blue/yellow sheild overlay on desktop icons
I have 1 program shortcut on the desktop that has the ugly shield splattered on it. The program is Speed Fan and does require to be run as an administrator. I've searched but haven't really found an easy way to remove the shield overlay. I know it's only cosmetic but the damn thing makes my custom icon look like crap.
I'd sure appreciate some help on getting this figured out.

I assume you have tried to use the Change Icon option under properties. Have you tried to remove the icon all together and repining a new icon to the desktop?

Well, I guess I can use the only icon in speedfan and all's ok. When I change the icon to 1 I want, the UAC shield shows up. Wanted to change it because the icon for speedfan is a black fan. Hard to see against my dark wallpaper. I found an image online of an LED fan and resized/saved as an icon. Easier to see. Oh well, guess I'll leave well enough alone and use speedfan's icon.
