    Backup looks for nonexistant folder

I have been attempting to backup my desktop Dell Dimension 4600 running Win7 Ultimate. Several years ago I created a folder in my Downloads folder named Software1 in which I placed several files. The files and the folder were deleted at least a year ago. Each time I run Windows backup, the program says not all files could be backup up with the following message:

Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Users\Dave\Downloads\Software1. ErrorThe system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002))

The folder Software1 does not show up in Windows Explorer or when I perform a search. I located a reference to it in the registry and deleted it. I created a new Software1 folder, placed a file in it and then deleted the file and folder. I still get the error. I have run out of ideas but would like to complete a backup.

I think you fall into scenario 2.
