I like HP the best. Toshiba would be another good laptop brand.

Here are a couple of good laptop deals at Office Depot:

This one is $400 -- http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...ptop-Computer/ -- This one has Windows 8 and a BIG screen. (probably a teenage girl wouldn't want to have to lug around such a big laptop)

    Here's a Toshiba that's a bit smaller, for $289: http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...ptop-Computer/ -- This one has Windows 7.
Can you give me some advice between Sony and Apple laptop? Sony Vaio Duo13 or Apple Macbook 2013?

I would always choose the Windows PC over the Apple PC. I just like the ability to customize things and the customizing options with Apple are very limited.

Note: I moved this post to it's own thread.

Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

Build your own system; get everything you want and nothing you don't.
    Latest Build:
    ASUS X99 Deluxe, Core i7-5960X, Corsair Hydro H100i, Plextor M6e 256GB M.2 SSD, Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum 32GB DDR4@2666, W8.1 64 bit,
EVGA GTX980, Seasonic PLATINUM-1000W PSU, MountainMods U2-UFO Case, and 7 other internal drives.

Sony vs Apple -- it depends on whether you want Windows or Mac.

    Here's why I prefer Windows:
    * It's about 1/2 the price for the same level of computer.
    * Tons of software and hardware (add-ins) are available for Windows, not as much for Mac.
    * Almost the whole world uses Windows, which means that there will always be a lot more available for Windows than for Mac.
    * Since I'm a technician, there will always be a lot more opportunities for employment in the Windows world than in the Mac world.

In the past, Apple had the "cool" factor in its favor; I believe that Windows 8 is closing the gap on the "cool" factor. By the way, this is not a factor with me, but it may be with some people.
