    No Workbook (XL97; SR2)

I'm curious as to why a blank workbook is not displayed when I execute XL. Is there a setup issue?

Are you starting XL from a shortcut? If so, are there any parameters on the command line?

Find the file excel.exe and double-click it. Do you still get no blank workbook? If you get a workbook, recreate the shortcut to the excel.exe file by right-clicking it and hitting Create shortcut. Cut and paste or drag the shortcut to your desktop. If you still get no workbook, find the folder called XLSTART and see if there are any files in there and (at least temporarily) remove them from that folder and then launch Excel.

Let us know how these worked for you.

If your shortcut contains /e in the command line, Excel starts without displaying a blank workbook. So, as other posts suggested, start by checking or recreating your shortcut.

    Re: No Workbook (XL97; SR2)

The XL short-cut did not have a "/e" associated with it. I did find a personal file in the XLSTART; removed it and restarted XL and I now have a new workbook displayed. I then copied the person file back to XLSTART and everything work just fine.

    Thanks for the advice.
