    replacing words as I type

Ok, I know I should Know what I did, but at my age I'm allowed to forget a few things. I noticed that when I was typing an email a minute ago that when I went back to insert or correct a word, the following word would be deleted as I typed. What the heck did I do, and how do I correct this. Oh yea I am using WLM 2012..

    thanks

Sounds like you turned on over-type mode by pressing the insert key on your keyboard. Try hitting insert again to toggle it off.

...with the NumLock off, otherwise it will just overwrite a 0...happens to my Mum 3 or 4 times a year.

FUN, most keyboards have a separate insert key from the one on the number pad.

Yes, but it's not the one my Mum hits 3 or 4 times a year and she wants to know exactly what she did so she knows for next time...which never helps of course.
