Word 2007: Is there a user way of making a side toolbar to put tools on?

    Hi all,

    A question for a friend:

Word 2007: Is there a user feature of making a side toolbar to put tools on, a la Word 2003?

Or does it have to be programmed (VBA)?

    TIA

The answer to your question is "No."

You can't do it in the Word interface and you can't do it with VBA. In Word 2003 and earlier, I liked to put toolbars on the side because there was more screen real estate there. You cannot do it in later versions. Period.

You can, though, modify the Ribbon using XML. See http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_p...bbon_main.html.

Well I guess that you can easily use VBA to program a good look-alike: just create a tall thin non-modal form and put buttons on it. Create a click handler for each button and put in a call to a tool.

    Thanks for the answer.
