Word 2010 VBA unprotect gives error 5385 when no password is required

I receive a Word 2010 form document that has fields and wish to use selection.find to locate who sent it as part of an interstate automation process.

    In Word 2007 the method
    activedocument.unprotect
    works absolutely as intended

In Word 2010, however it generates error 5385 (incorrect password). If I add a value for password of "" I still get the same error.

Has anyone come across this behaviour? Ultimately, I only need a method to find 'protected' text so I'm also interested if there are other ways to locate non-form field data.

    Thanks in advance

The only time I've seen this is when the document has mysteriously been given an unknown password, maybe by whatever process was used to move the document from one computer to another. When that has happened, it's been only one document that was affected, and resending it "fixed" the glitch.

Can you unprotect the form with the UI controls, either the Stop Protecting button in the Restrict Editing pane or the Lock icon that you can add to the Quick Access Toolbar?
