If you try to install Windows 8.1 on Oracle VM VirtualBox from the WindowsBlue-ClientwithApps-64bit-English-X1899605.iso ISO file You will get a blue screen with the message:

Your PC needs to restart.
Please hold down the power button.
Error Code: 0x000000C4

To fix the problem, and get it to install open a command window and do this:

The first command VBoxManage.exe list vms lists the names of the virtual machines exactly as they must be used in the second command.

The second command
VBoxManage.exe setextradata "Windows 8.1" VBoxInternal/CPUM/CMPXCHG16B 1
enables the CPU instruction CMPXCHG16B.
