    All New Folders Zipped

Whenever I create a new folder by right clicking on my desktop, the only option offered is to create a new "zipped" [compressed] folder. My best efforts to undue this default option have not worked. I want a plain folder ! Any suggestions? Thanks.

Something sounds corrupted. Have you tried to open an Administrative Command Prompt and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. This runs the System File Checker which will find and fix many problems with Windows files.

Use All Programs, Windows System to find a Command Prompt, right click and choose Run As Administrator. This gives the highest level of privileges.

If this is a recent development, perhaps a System Restore could solve the problem.
