    Installing XP, missing files

Was in process of installing xp on an older computer, dell dimension 4500s. XP cd is original, certified, bought years ago. Setup was going fine till everything stopped, message that couldn't install file, can't remember which file. Had to skip, knowing this wasn't good, but would not install any file after first one anyway. Had to exit off set up, now get the NTLDR missing, won't boot from cd as cd isn't even recognized now. Is there anyway to fix this or at least wipe the drive. Is a good hard drive, was wiped prior to installing so was no operating system on it. Any help appreciated.

Are you able to get into the BIOS to check the hardware being recognized and the boot device sequence?

If the CD drive is not recognized now and was recently you probably have a hardware problem.
