Keyboard device being removed upon shutdown.

This just started a couple of days ago. I haven't modified or installed any software or system configurations. Everytime I do a cold startup, my keyboard is gone from the device manager. I have to uninstall the keyboard software and reinstall it to get the keyboard working. XP3, Microsoft Office Keyboard RT9450, Intellitxt 5.0 driver. I've searched for answers, but can't find any. Thoughts?

See if the keyboard is recognized in Clean Boot:

If so, selectively enable things until you find the culprit.

You shouldn't need any keyboard software to use a keyboard with your computer. There could be a quirk with USB.

If you have PS/2 ports and an available PS/2 keyboard, you might try powering down and then connecting the PS/2 keyboard. PS/2 is a mature and simple technology, and native to the computer. There is less possibility of problems and conflicts.

I am assuming that you have a USB keyboard. If you have a PS/2 keyboard, then this doesn't apply.
