TIFF graphic does not display (Office 97 SR2b, Win95c)

we have a document template which has a TIFF graphic in it.

on one PC, this graphic will not display (or print); it shows as a icon [coloured square/circle/triangle].

attempts to re-insert the tiff file are greeted with: "The server application, source file or item cannot be found" error.

i've re-installed Office97 + SR2 + MS Converters. Tif's are listed under Graphics Filters by Word's Tech Info.

anyone got any bright ideas?
thanks

What network are you using?

It also appears from your post that this is only happening on the one PC. If so it could be a lack of system resources especially if it is a large TIFF, not enough memory, free space on the HDD or similar.

network is tcp/ip based.
office lives on local machine; graphic on a network drive;
the tif file is 17kb
machine is pii500, with 128mb memeory & 8gb hard-disk (about 20% used).
i have seen something similar on another pc here, but that was cured by installing the MS Converter pack.

i can *probably* cure this by re-installing Win95 & Office etc, but i'd rather not!

HI John.

Doesn't sound like a resources issue to me. Being TCP/IP I read that as a Windows based server, not much experience there, sorry. Check this post. I don't hold out much hope for that either.

Other than that all I can do is hope someone else has a solution. (I DO have plenty of experience with re-installing systems and I don't evny you that.)

John, Sorry, no bright ideas or sure-fire answers. Just a thought and a question:
Have you tried converting the .TIFF files to another format, say GIFs? Since you've used TIFF as your master format, almost any program on any platform can handle TIFF. But there are a number of varieties of TIFF, and not all programs can read all variations (compressed TIF files, smaller than uncompressed TIF, are not as widely supported) but once a scan is saved as a TIFF file, you can make files of other formats from it but cannot reverse the process when the files that you make have less information that the TIFF file (always the case with JPEG files and sometimes the case with GIF files. )
The Question: is the TIFF inserted via LINK- or is it pasted in?

Can you view this file in another app, such as Paint Shop?
Can you view other graphic files?
Including another tiff file?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
