    PowerDVD/WinDVD alternative

These although best dvd players unfortunately recent versions have chosen the path of ie. Nero and similar multimedia players and viewers instead of plain dvd player (CD/DVD burning with Nero). Older versions on Win7/8 are causing problems. The new ones are greedy for resources, but also full of unnecessary features for someone, who prefers simplicity. Almost all players can play dvd. VLC, GOMplayer or WinMediaPlayer, are not for it. All these in the initial job description have not dvd playing. It can anyone recommend sw that quality, simplicity and ease of the system approaches the perfection of the two in the subject?
    thx for advice
    Peter
