    Excel 2007 - problem breaking links

    I have received a spreadsheet from a trusted source that I want to use, and I am having the following problem:
    When I open the workbook (because he keeps a necessary XLA in a differently named folder than I do), I get the message: "To change the source of links . . ."
    I click on Edit Links.
    The Edit Links box that opens only has "Open Source" and "Check Status" available to click on.
    The other choices are greyed out.
    How can I "un-grey" these so I can "break the link" and/or "Change source" as needed?
    THank you,
    Dick

    Hi Dick

    Perhaps you could copy this code into a module in the offending workbook and run it:

    Code:
    Sub breakLinks()

    zLinks = ThisWorkbook.LinkSources(Type:=xlLinkTypeExcelLinks)

    on error resume next
    For i = 1 To UBound(zLinks)

    ActiveWorkbook.BreakLink _
     Name:=zLinks(i), _
     Type:=xlLinkTypeExcelLinks
     Next i

    on error goto 0

    End Sub
    Let me know if that does the trick.
