    Problem with Firefox, Excel, Word and Outlook (2007)

    Hi,
    I hope I'm in the right forum and hope someone can help me sort out my mix of problems.

    I have Office 2007 and Firefox installed (Windows 7 64bit) and have suddnely begun having problems with parts of Office and Firefox.

    If I click on the Firefox icon I get an immediate error screen with no apparent progress on loading the software. The message includes options to restart or quit and to send a report to Mozilla.

    At thesame time (as near as I can tell) I have begun having problems with Outlook, Excel and Word. These all go straight to an error screen without loading. I have tried opening them in safe mode (eg., outlook.exe /safe from the start menu) with the same result. I have run the Office diagnostics package with no effect.

    These problems all arose at about the same time and I'm assuming that there may be some sort of underlying common cause.

    I don't know if this is related, but the internet connection speed of this computer has slowed down significantly over the last few days.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Joe, I would definitely start with a full scan with a good AV app and with MalwareBytes Antimalware. This sounds like the kind of problems that come about with an infestation.

    Have you noticed any unusual apps appearing or any unknown add-ons with your browser. Try IE and see what happens.

    I would also get rid of all internet history and cookies and start fresh.
