manual formatting pita (2000 - 9.0.2720)

Edited by gwhitfield on 24-Nov-01 07:34.
Hyperlinks added

I keep a list of installed golfcourses here http://members.aol.com/kylde001/courses.htm that I regularly have to amend. Is there a way of making Word AUTO-format the page once I make an amendment? I tried using a text-box, no easier. As you can tell I'm a total Word novice TIA for any help

    Kylde,

My apologies. I'm not quite sure what you want to do. Can you explain a little more please?

The course names are simply tab-formatted into columns. If I (for example) delete a course from the middle of the list, I have to manually reformat all the names AFTER the deletion to line em up with the tab stops again. I'ms ure there must be an easier way? Thanks for the reply

I had a look at your site and what I suggest you might do is use a table to set this up, one row for each course and then the required number of columns that you need to display its information. You can set the table up so that the cell borders do not show and it should look a lot like what you have there now. When you delete an entry, you just delete its row, HTH

Hmm, I'm very stupid you know Do you mean like this http://website.lineone.net/~node01/golf/tablel.doc ? Deleting ONE entry is a nightmare using this table, all the cells shift. Surely what you suggest would be WAY longer than 1 page at 1 row per entry (currently there are 133 entries)? And there is no info to display per entry, purely the course name? My aim with this has always been to keep it at 1 viewable page, for quick online reference. Thanks for the reply Ron

    Kylde,

Could you use columns here? Have all the names in one column- perhaps separated by section breaks where you have a new heading- and Format Columns, select 5 columns.

I don't know how that would export, it may be worth a try?
