    Updating win8

My question: if none of the current six botched windows patches are listed in the win8 update on my computer, is it safe to update? I note AskWoody is still at MS-DEFCON 2.

As far as I recall, those patches were mostly only for servers, KB2859537 (the main one we all need to keep watch on) still has ongoing issues for some: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2859537
Known issues with this security update

Some users may experience issues with certain programs after they install security update 2859537. In some cases the programs may not successfully start. We are also aware of limited reports that certain users may encounter difficulties restarting their computers after applying this security update. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.
Bottom line: If it's listed in your Windows Update, check it carefully before deciding what to do; if it isn't listed, don't fret it.
