Many types of devices can cause wireless interference including Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, fluorescent lights, microwave ovens, outdoor microwave links, WiMAX, wireless game controllers, wireless video cameras, Zigbee devices, and so on. Even bad electrical connections can cause broad RF spectrum emissions.

Are you sure you have entered the right wireless key to join the wi-fi network ? Sometimes the network encryption used in the wifi is not compatible for your wireless adapter. Interference can also cause frequent network disconnection.

One cause of wifi problems that I have encountered is when there is a space in the network name. Some devices won't connect to a wireless network with a space in the name. This doesn't seem to be the trouble here, because you do connect on and off. Still, it would be worth checking this possibility. If there is a space in the name, remove the space from the name and try again to connect using the new name.
