    Access on MAC

    Hi,

I need to port an Access application to a MAC (I'm a Windows user). I understand that Access is NOT part of MS Office for the MAC, so a Windows emulator is needed.

Any good (and relatively cheap - free is good) emulators? Performance is not a great concern since the DB is small-medium at best and very quick results is not a requirement (but don't want to be twiddling thumbs either).

    TIA

    Fred

I found a comment that said that Open Office for the MAC may solve this for you:

OpenOffice (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/9602) is the one that has a database module ("Base"), and since it's an Access clone it's very much an "equivalent", for both good and bad.

You'll need the X11 environment for OpenOffice.

You will find that Open Office can't really do many of the things that Access does, and does very well. I would suggest Parallels - it's reasonably priced, and we have clients who run Windows all day long on their Macs that way.

You might consider running a Remote Desktop Connection from the MAC to a Windows Server. Access within that.
