    Windows update etc

I had windows update today and I have an update that installed successfully but it keeps telling me I have an important update. So I tried to install it again and it did same thing. It's a security update for 2003 excel.

When I check history I now have 2 of the same updates successfully installed. Any ideas.

    NBB,

It's a bad update from MS. I've been having the same problem as are many others. For now just ignore the request to reinstall it and wait a week and maybe MS will get it fixed. HTH

Thank you RG, that's easy enough and I will report back next week.

I have the same issues with two patches, KB27604588 and KB2760411. Apparently this looping isn't limited to just a few. I read another post with a number of people with the same issue, some with the same patches as me and some with other ones. I've tried the basic fixes, the most popular is using Microsoft's Mr. Fix-it. If I run that it tells me Win. Update Component must be repaired, when I use it reports that it is Fixed. But it isn't. If I run Mr. Fix-it in Safe Mode it reports Not Fixed. Hopefully they will offer a fix for these in the near future.

Just a report, next couple days I got the "important update" message, but this morning nothing. I then went to control panel and did the check for updates program and it was ok, nothing needed.
