    Conhost.exe where did it go???

I run Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on an Intel based machine and noticed a discussion on conhost.exe. It stated that it should be in Windows/system32. I've checked and find no instance in that directory on my computer. However I find 15 instances in C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-consolehost_

Does Win7 Ultimate not use or need conhost or do I have a problem?

Win7 Ultimate definitely does need conhost.exe (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/4996/...is-it-running/), and it should be in the system32 directory.

Try running sfc /scannow from an administrator prompt (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833).

    Thanks, but I found it!
I was using a third party search tool...Search Everything. I guess it doesn't see conhost.exe.
I used a command window and there it was.
    Thanks again.
