    Cannot install MySQL database

    Hi there

I have managed to setup my laptop as a development environment many times in the past, using PHP /MySQL and IIS. Since I did a re-install of Windows in January, I simply cannot install the MySQL database. I used the same installation file on a server, ad it worked fine.

    Any tips?

    Thanks

Hard to say something without knowing what you are getting when you try the install. What are the error messages if any.

OK - as I posted, I realised I needed to give more info about my installation and the errors....... here we go, trying another installation!

mysql-5.5.15-winx64.msi is being used to install (same file as used on the server).

Install works fine, just end up with a problem during configuration:

    Could not start service.....
The install stops there, and the only option is to cancel..........!

Are you running the installation as an Administrator?

Slightly off topic, I use UniformServer to run a dev environment. Usually works out of the box.

    cheers, Paul
