    Windows 8 (8.1) Login

I just got my Windows RT yesterday, so I'm really new to this. I've already updated to 8.1 I noticed yesterday that when the device went into lock, that it used my msn.com login to unlock it. that causes me concern, because that is the same password that controls my e-mail, WP8, WP8 app store etc....... I am uncertain as to changing this to something else. Can I change that login password, without screwing up everything else?

    thanks
    John

Is that a Microsoft account? If it is, you will have to change it wherever else you use it with, too.

    Why is that a concern?

You could switch to a local account if you don't want stuff sync'd:

It's a single logon, to all things Microsoft. It has risks, it has advantages. If you change the password, whenever you try to use other Microsoft services you will have to use the new password.

I suggest that you use a really hard to guess password, maybe even generated by a password manager and do not use it anywhere else. If you have a phone, add it to your account, so that you can have two step authentication.

I think you can change it from netplwiz. Search it in apps and try it.
