    8.1 Network Help

I have two Win 8.1 PCs: A desktop wired to modem and router and a wireless laptop. I have set up a home network and on either computer I can see the other PC, its Windows folders, attached USB drives, with the ability to read and write changes. But when I try to access the other PC's desktop, "you do not have permission" pops up every time. I have checked every sharing and permission button multiple times but still no go. I can mess with practically everything on the other PC, but no access to the desktop. Before I upgraded to 8.1, no problems. Any ideas much appreciated.

Only a thought, double check to see if you're still signed in as "ADMINISTRATOR" on both computers.

Try adding the the other computer's user ID and password on the PC you can't access.

I have on occasion had to set up sharing on each PC. If you right click the folder you wish to share, click on the Share option and go from there.
