    Angry Sharing folders on SkyDrive

Some time back I thought that Microsoft had changed the criteria for letting others share and edit folders. I was under the impression that the recipients no longer were required to have a Microsoft account. Guess that wasn't / isn't true, which really sucks.
    Thanks John

I am not sure you are correct. What exactly did you do to share the file?

l went to SkyDrive, selected the folder, made sure that I allowed editing, and then shared via email link. receiving party could open the folder, but couldn't add to it. he got a message saying he needed to login

I do not think the sharing requirements have changed. See Share files and folders and change permissions.

Joe's link details what you need to do to make sure the recipients can edit the file:

If you want recipients to be able to edit the file or folder, select Recipients can edit. Recipients will be able to view your file or folder, and also edit Office documents using Office Web Apps without needing a Microsoft account.

Maybe it's a temporary problem. I just did a quick test and it's not working, even when the edit option has been selected.

Here's the rest of the paragraph Rui quoted:

Other edits, such as uploading to a folder, will require signing in with a Microsoft account. Recipients can also forward this link, and anyone who receives it will also be able to edit your file or folder. The people who edit a file or folder will be displayed under Sharing in the details view of the file or folder.

I'm also seeing this lately when I open SkyDrive. This shows up in both my laptop which is running Windows 7 with I.E. 11, and also on my Surface RT.

No, I haven't. It only seems to happen when I sign out of one account and sign into another. I don't have the option of another browser on the RT. I'm going to the Microsoft store in Scottsdale on Wednesday for a little training and will see what they think. Will follow up.
    Thanks John
