    Win7ult_64 memory amount after reboot

Question is rather academic in nature: after a new OS installation on a formatted disk (not upgrade or repair system) and restart the same one occupied about 250 megabytes less by TaskManager. The old installation from the beginning occupied about 1GB, now 750 megabytes. There is everything same there was before, antivirus in the background, updates, SP1, same hw, etc. Does anyone have an explanation or insight?
    thanks for the any advice

    Peter,

My guess is it would be all the Temp & Temporary Internet Files that are no longer there. Give a month and then see how bit the footprint is. HTH

often I clean the system with CCleaner, temp and similar directory first. Do not think it would be this one.
I'm talking about 25% of the difference, it seems to me enough
    well thanks for the advice

Are you sure you are running the same exact configuration? Same services, same apps booting, with the same configs? Any small changes can account for that, sincerely don't think 250 MB is that much, these days.

I posted this question as academic ;-)
Talked exactly about 250MB of difference, not some small amount. Don't think they are same services, or same apps. Anyway it is clean install as was that clean install before, with 1GB of ram occupied by OS.

Really, even an academic sense, you'd need to be sure the configuration is exactly the same. I suppose even apps and patches could have been changed in between and some may be using less memory. Maybe I am spoiled, but 250 MB is not that much, in absolute terms, if it is in relative terms, in this case.
