I try to keep up with the Patch Watch column and only install MS updates when Susan Bradley gives the OK, holding off when she says "wait" or "skip".

A few times a year, I run the Secunia PSI program to see if I might have missed anything.
Today it offers to install KB2864058 (MS013-083).

However, that item is NOT offered to me by Windows Update today, October 28, 2013.

Interestingly, there are a dozen small files related to that patch number already on my machine.
with names such as
"C:\Windows\System32\catroot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\Package_for_KB2864058~31bf3856ad364e 35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.cat"
and
"C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\Package_3_for_KB286 4058~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.mum"

Those files are dated 7/4/2013, but the security bulletin MS13-083 was issued on October 8, 2013.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...letin/ms13-083.

KB2864058 is listed as critical to prevent remote code execution.

Should I ignore all this, or install it directly from the security bulletin even though it does not appear in my Windows Update offerings?

Thanks for any advice, and I hope I am posting this on the correct forum.
My Lenovo laptop is running Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
