    Local Account & Apps

    Hey Y'all,

I'm having a problem w/Microsoft Minesweeper. It won't let me sign using my Microsoft Account and keeps wanting to convert my computer login to the MS Account. I can login to the Store w/o problem and Skype seems to work ok but not Minesweeper.
I keep selecting "Log in to each app separately" but to no avail.

    Any ideas?

That's the problem with using a local account to sign in with. Some or part of the apps wont work correctly along with some other functionality's of the OS unless you sign in with a MS account.

Did you try an old fashioned uninstall, download and install again? Minesweeper wasn't working for me after the upgrade either and I haven't been back to the Metro screen since reverting...I'm afraid I'll see the Upgrade to 8.1 again in a giant tile and it's too close to Halloween for that kind of scare.

Took me a couple of times including getting the secret code to verify my Microsoft account but I was eventually able to log in and wound up logging in to X Box games. I then only had to select login to each game separately and logged in once for the next Xbox game I tried (Solitaire Collection). I still just log in to Windows 8.1 locally rather than with a Microsoft account.
If you get tired of all this mess and you have access to an XP system or install disk, this site purports to have a method of running the classic minesweeper in Windows 8. I haven't tried it so YMMV.

I login with a local account on my PC. I don't play Minesweeper, but I do play Solitaire. I don't have to login to play. I just click Cancel on the login screen, get the faded screen that says I couldn't be logged in, and I just click one of the Solitaire games (usually Klondike) and start playing.

    bbearren,

Yeah! that's how I play minesweeper now but I have a game history associated with my MS account from 8.0 and I'd really like to get it back. But I'm not going to jump through hoops just for that.

Yes I've been there done that several times.

Jezzball is my all time favorite Microsoft game, but I haven't seen it in ages.

I believe the game history can only be accessed when signed in with your MS account. That is the way I access mine.
