Game over: Microsoft Office is killing Google Apps and anemic iWorks

    http://blogs.computerworld.com/deskt...-anemic-iworks

Oh, the number of tech gurus that should be eating their hats, at this moment... I don't know how many people I read stating the Google Docs (a few years ago) would kill Microsoft, as no one in their senses would pay to get what they could get for free.

Sorry, I just find this funny .

You must go looking for those opinions; I never read (or heard) anything other than it has some nice features but could never supplant Office for serious work (business). I was reading experienced users though, not gurus.
Same applies to Linux head to head, but, that sort of twinkle-toed in the side door in a big way and spawned the two-headed beast.
I do know one guru who said the iPad was not a game-changer and I agreed with him at the time. Never underestimate the value of shiny and sleek over fairly severe limitations!

Not sure how I should interpret this?! Which opinions do I look for?

Have you ever read ZDNet or CNet?

No, I must admit not regularly, no more than once or twice a month or so.
By looking I mean, why do those opinions stick? I honestly say that from my sources, which are more heavily weighted to Twit.tv network, there was a preponderance of need for Microsoft to get into online document architecture, but that once they did, the connections Office has back to desktop versions will make it as dominate online as it is off. Indeed Google doesn't even have an offline suite to compliment, case closed.

Well, I read them less and less, but they are still on my RSS feeds. There were a couple people on Zdnet that fist swore Linux would kill Windows and then swore that google docs would kill Office. Then it was Google Drive that would do it - this one not even long ago: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-574...osofts-office/. Of course, every year is the demise of Microsoft year. They are not hard to find at all.

Here is yet another take on the fictional thinking that iWork and Google Docs will take over the world.
    Thanks John
