    Strange password field Problem

Guys I have a strange problem.Every time i turn on my laptop, my password field is automatically filled with asterisks. Not just few asterisks but the entire password field is covered till no more character is allowed.I have to press and hold backspace key for some time to empty it.The Laptop is Sony Vaio Windows 8 and works just fine apart from this.Yeah, sometimes it automatically fills those asterisks if i click on empty field, for example search field in "my computer".I scaned the Laptop with Avira and Malware Bytes but they found nothing.I even tried "System Restore" but the problem is still there. The Problem appeared suddenly out of nowhere.I didnt install anything and i havent even connected it to the internet.Help me out friends.

Is this your Windows password, or your power-on-password?

If it's your Windows password, you could probably click into the field, then hit CTRL-A to highlight the whole thing, then hit DEL to clear it out.

Have you tried to change to the picture password option to see what happens. Charms, Settings, Change PC Settings, then select Picture Password. This might provide a work around until a better alternative is available. Besides I like the Picture Password better anyway.

Its my windows password. But the problem has nothing to do with my windows password.my windows password is just 10 characters and here it fills the entire password field with asterisks. When I say asterisks i literally mean asterisks, they dont represent any character but asterisks.Sometimes they even appear in other applications like word or note pad.For example (it happens occasionaly) if i click on any field where i can enter characters, asterisks keep appearing automatically until I press the backspace key to stop it.Its like you click on empty field, any empty field and it goes on like this *************. It happens occasionaly in other apps but it never fails to appear in my password field when i start my computer. In my sony vaio laptop any character you enter in the password field is shown as black dot (normal procedure) so i see innumerable black dots in the password field at start up.

Are you sure your asterisk key is not stuck? Also, have you run a malware app recently?

Did you ever find out the cause and the solution to this problem. My wife's Windows 7 laptop has a very similar issue where the web browser address field (Chrome or Explorer) automatically gets filled with asterisks from left to right. This also happens in the "Search Programs and Files" field under the "start" menu. No virus or malware found.
