    windows associations

I have some file associations that I'd like to change, but am having trouble. Example: I want to open my .txt files with Wordpad instead of Notepad. How do I make the change and get it to work. I did something (I don't remember now) to get them to go to Wordpad, but it opens Wordpad, and then gives me an error message that it can't find the file and gives the path. What is happening is that if there is a space in any part of the path, like in the folder name, it stops at the space and doesn't get to the rest of it for the filename (so My Documents... gets stuck at My. Fortunately I can use the Send to menu now, but that's still 3 clicks away, more than I feel I need to do.
