Angry Is Windows update able to update me to Windows 8.1?

A few days ago I updated to Windows 8.1 and I hated it so I had to convert it back to just Windows 8 and I lost everything... Now on the lock screen, it says that Windows Update will need me to restart in a few days to "finish installing important updates." Does this mean that it will update my pc to windows 8.1 again?

    Hi,

    Welcome to the Lounge.

No, Windows update won't upgrade you to 8.1. You need to do that through the Store.

Ya, you should restart now or anytime before that 72 hour deadline for restarting if the computer is not running a project. It's just a normal update cycle except with a longer delay compared to the old 10 minute reminder.

The updates it's asking you to restart your PC for are updates to Win 8.

By the way, what did you hate about Win 8.1 that you did not hate about Win 8? This is somewhat of an unusual occurrence.

From it's Core, 8.1 is a different OS from 8.0, and not an update.
It's as significant an upgrade as XP to windows 7.

Make sure your computer is 8.1 compatible even before you start looking at upgrading to 8.1. Some computers can run
8.0 just fine, but won't even load 8.1. I know this because I have one of those computers. Eh?

    Good Luck!
