Thumbs up Disable Windows 8.1 Start Button

Here is a registry tweak to disable the Windows 8.1 Start Button and make your Task bar look like Windows 8

Type regedit in Run or Search to Launch Registry Editor
    Follow below path:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\System
Double click RollBackToWindows8Build9200 on the right of window, and change its value from 0 to 1
Reboot your PC for effective changes

    Azain,

I tried this on my Win 8.1 Pro system and it had no effect. Now I do have StartIsBack running and I tested it on the Start Menu icon on my 2nd screen, which produces the standard Win 8.1 "start menu" vs the icon on my main screen which produces the "classic start menu", so YMMV! !

I'm almost certain that was originally posted as a joke: Any registry tweak to disable the Start button in Windows 8.1 and use the old Windows 8 desktop look?

    Have you tried it?

Anyone who really hates a start button could use StartIsGone for Windows 8.1 (blue/grey, not green, download links).
