    Strange Problem--action cannot be completed...

I have XP. Lately, quite often a box appears.

‘This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy Choose ‘Switch to’ to activate the busy program and correct the problem.’ Beneath this are three buttons, from left to right they’re labelled Switch To… , Retry and Cancel. Cancel is greyed out. Pressing Switch To… opens the start menu, presumably to allow me to select the busy program but there’s no indication of which is the problematic program so I just close the start menu. When the start menu opens the Server Busy window closes briefly but reappears after a second and the loop continues. Pressing the retry button makes the window disappear briefly only to immediately reappear. It seems impossible to get rid of this window.

    Ideas?

Have you used task manager to identify the offending program or process?

Yes, but I am not sure what to look for. No programs were running. Quite a few processes were.

    Any ideas?

dunno if this fits but i used file assassin to kill a file that was blocking progress

win patrol may help you discover what/where the blocking point/program is

anyway that solved a similar problem that i had
