    Excel Formula Bar & document recovery

    I'm using Excel 2007. recently (approx 1 month) the formula bar no longer appears by default, I can select it in the view menu and it is ticked in the advanced settings but it will not remain selected.
    Also when opening a file the document recovery panel invariably opens. I select spreadsheet A, close it without taking any action, then select it again from the shortcut menu in the Start menu and the documnet recovery panel appears.
    It does not matter whether the file is .xls or xlsx or whther I have saved the file before closing - with or without changes.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Do you have any add-ons - as some will allow the formula bar to be hidden - check or disable these options.

    Also do you have any code that hides it - such as:
    Private Sub Workbook_Activate()
    Application.DisplayFormulaBar = False
    End Sub

    I have never seen the problem with the document recovery always appearing - but found a link for your to read and try:
