    connect older zip drive

I have a ZIP 100 (S/N PRFJ36339U) and I want to hook it up to my laptop. Is there a converter cable that I can use to connect to a USB port? The cable looks like a 25 pin serial cable. Is that right?

    Thanks

Wow, that is ancient. I used to love Zip drives and owned internal and USB powered ones. Wikipedia seems to suggest there were parallel port drives (and I remember I had one), which may suggest yours is one of those, too. If so, it may be hard for you to do it. You can probably find a parallel to USB converter, but I don't know if you will be able to find drivers for it. Probably you can find then online for XP, but anything other than that may prove difficult.

I seem to remember there where parallel port versions, I have a USB driven one now, you can get parallel to USB adapter cables, Windows understands my USB Zip drive natively but I'm not sure about a parallel connected type. Also it must be powered externally right? Do you have the power adapter that goes with it?
