Bad Windows 8.1 Update?
Shortly after I downloaded a recent round of Windows 8.1 Updates, I started getting this error just before Windows starts: "Windows failed to start and we are gathering information to correct this problem" (approximate wording). The error was Page Fault in Nonpaged Area. After a short wait the computer rebooted and Windows loaded OK. The next time I started or restarted the computer I got the same error, over and over. I used System Restore to go to a restore point that had been created before the Updates. The error went away and hasn't occurred since. This leads me to believe that one or more of the updates was causing the problem. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know which particular Windows 8.1 Update causes it. If so, I would like to avoid it at all costs.

All important updates have been installed on my Windows 8.1 laptop and I have had no issues.
I suggest you try the updates one by one. Sorry, but seems the only way to determine the problem update.Rui
