My external HD drive letter keeps changing

    Hello,

Why, and how to fix this issue permanently?
It disrupts bkups to this HD.

    I appreciate any help.

    Cheers,
    Flores

I think it was RG maybe (a super moderator) who knew of and used a utility for that so maybe he'll answer this when he comes back online.
Personally I just assign a USB drive a letter further on in the alphabet (in Disk Management) with a big enough gap of unused letters so that any other USB drives or devices that come and go are assigned earlier letters and don't ever replace or transplant the letter of the USB drive you want to stay the same each time it's attached.

    Hey Y'all,

The program you seek is USBDLM (USB Drive Letter Management). I love it and it is even free for private & educational uses! HTH
