    Cannot right-click + drag-and-drop to create shortcut (thanks, Windows 8.1)

    Recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and lost the ability to right-click + drag-and-drop to "create shortcut here" when dropping a file into a 2010 MS Word doc. Actually, I first noticed this when trying to insert a link to a file on the server in an email (2010 MS Outlook), which uses MS Word to edit messages. I can right-click + drag-and-drop to copy (attach) a file into an email message, but not to create a link. This is seriously impeding my productivity, as I often email links to files on the server. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    @mann.justinmann, Welcome to the Lounge.

    I can right click and drag to create a shortcut to the desktop, but not to a word document. Instead I can use a Hyperlink to do so I believe. Check this:

    Thank you, @Medico. I know I can create a hyperlink in that manner; it's just not my preference. Takes too long to navigate through the folders and sub-folders on the server to find the document that I want. Right-click and drag was so much faster! Still hoping there's a fix I'm not aware of.
