Has Desktop gadgets been discontinued? I ask because after today's updates all my gadgets are awol.
    Is this a security issue?

    Hi Dave,

Desktop gadgets were found to suffer from security issues, so Microsoft decided they should no longer be supported. I am not sure "awoling" them was intended, but they probably don't care if they are awol .

    Thanks Rui,
I found the clock and calendar useful.

When we were advised to stop using Desktop Gadgets (because of the security issues), I started using Rainmeter instead - highly customizable and versatile.

I was already using Rainlendar as my calendar.

Might be worth a look for those not wanting to run the Gadget risk.

    Hi Rui,
When I started my PC yesterday all the Desktop gadgets were back again.
Maybe I will stop using them because of the security issues.

If the gadgets are authored by 3rd party developers, that's probably the safest way to go, Dave.
