Can't get rid of "Helpful Hint" in upper left corner Windows 8.1

I am in Desktop Mode, Windows 8.1 32-bit, using Start Is Back.

There is a "helpful hint" in the upper left corner of the screen -- "Switch between apps -- Move your mouse pointer all the way into the corner, and then click to go back to the last app you were using.
Tip: Keep moving your pointer into the corner until you see the app."

Anyone know how I can close this "helpful hint", or better yet, turn off these "helpful hints"?

Just click on them. They should eventually stop popping up. This is Microsoft's sorry answer to critics that said they didn't do enough to educate new users on the new features of Windows 8.

If you use a Start Menu replacement app such as Start8 or Classic Shell, you can choose the option to Disable Hot Corners in Desktop Mode.

    Done.

I thought about doing that, but I didn't want to give up my easy way into "lala land" and back.

I clicked many times, but they didn't go away.

I have also enabled the option to boot directly to the Desktop Mode. Both these replacements allow these 2 changes. I am not sure if these 2 changes are available with StartIsBack.

You can easily set up what the Win Key does with either of these 2 apps as well. Getting to "lala land" is as simple as pressing the Win Key. (I assume you mean the Metro Mode with "lala land", LOL)

I disabled the four corners, per your suggestion. Things are now exactly like I want them to be. In effect, a faster version of Windows 7.

Yes, "lala land" is the Metro interface!
