    Strange new icon

    Hello.
Lately when doing a Cut & Paste from a URL or any C&P to a blank .doc I get this to show on the blank page. I do not use encryption.

    C&P.jpg

What has happened and how can I again do my trick ? Thanks a mega. Jean.

    Hi Jean,

Does that happen if you chose Paste Special and then choose something like Unformatted text?

I will try this later, Rui. But I tried it on my W-7 machine and the C&P works fine. Thanks for coming back so quick but I have to run.

I could not go and leave you in abeyance. Yes, it still happens in Special, Rui. Jean.

NB: I can C&P here but not to Word. Word. Word. See ?

Looks like it is stuck in Convert to Adobe PDF and Email ????

Ok, Jean, moving this to the Word Processing forum, hopefully will allow you to get more knowledgeable help.

    Let's step back a bit.

    Version of Word?

How are you doing the copy and paste? Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V?

Does this happen from any web source or one source in particular.

I am unfamiliar with "NB" as shorthand.

Charles, greets and thankyou for your interest in my quest.
NB: is in latin, Nota Bene as an added note after a message.
My use of C&P is the regular one, methinks. It worked for me for the last 20+ odd years and still on this W-8 machine until about 1 month ago, I can not remember what I have done that brought this on. My W-8 machine runs all of Office 2000, I got off W-8.1 on account of it not honoring that old app. O2K ran on all my previous machines, and nicely at that. When I try a C&P to Word, the little icon that you can see in my .jpg, is the one that Acrobat shows as a "Convert to Acrobat and Email" prompt. If I C&P the URL for this site : http://windowssecrets.com/forums/sho...ange-new-thing to a blank page in Word, it works fine.

Are some URL coded somehow to prevent some misuse ? I will look today into Internet Options to see if I have changed a line in it that would cause this inability to use Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V as per a long habit of mine.

    Have a great day, Charles.

NB: Charles, looks like I found the culprit, ie: me ! I found that the Acrobat menu had a check mark at "View Results in Acrobat". Obviously, I had placed it there, it is a user choice but why, I will never know. Since I removed that check, all is well. Touch wood !

Many thanks for your presence here and in the spirit of the seasons may it be a Happy one to you. Jean.

Placing changes into your system setup may not be by you. You have a friend messing with your stuff.
Microsoft updates alters all sorts of (unknown 2 U) settings?
